Col. The proclamation the volunteers signed reinforces their commitment and dedication to the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention program.
The proclamation, issued by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa Commander Maj. Gen. Andrew M. Rohling, and also signed by the volunteers, states:
"The Army's theme for SAAPM 2021 is 'Building Cohesive Teams through Character, Trust, and Resilience. Protecting Our People Protects Our Mission.'
"An environment of mutual trust where leaders and Soldiers are committed to upholding the safety, respect, and dignity of every team member is essential for cohesive teams to grow, improve unit readiness, eliminate negative behaviors, and prevent sexual harassment and sexual assault.
"Promoting cohesive teams can enhance personal resilience, which prepares team members to cope with life's personal and professional challenges. It is our duty and responsibility to build positive, trusting relationships that foster a culture in which Soldiers are motivated to seek our guidance. Doing so enhances our ability to recognize even the smallest deviation from standards and allows leaders to proactively address any problems early on."
Private 1st Class Louis Amison said he chose to volunteer as an Agent of Change to learn more about the SHARP program and try to make a difference.
"I chose this because I was told it would be very informative about the SHARP program, and because I know there are things that happen in the barracks that some people don't talk about, and I want to be part of changing that," he said.
The Vicenza military community SHARP team will be hosting multiple events throughout the month of April, including a virtual 5K, obstacle course and Denim Day 2021.
